Wyoming Turkey Season A Huge Success!

July 18th, 2011 by Shaine Reece

Scottie and my Wyoming hunt was a huge success.  Lots of birds and let me tell you folks, you can’t go wrong going there to kill some big toms.  We were there for 2 days and came home with 2 toms and a jake.  The birds there have amazing feathers.  I guarantee you, if you kill a big tom, you will mount it.  I have hunted turkeys all over and I have never seen bird with feathers this immaculate.  Wyoming turkeys, you got to love it!

Big Bears Down With Amyot Lake Outfitters!

June 28th, 2011 by Shaine Reece

Well our hunt in Canada with Amyot Lake Outfitters was great.  We were there for 4 days and put 3 big bears on the ground.  If you have never looked at Brad’s website you need to.  He has huge bears and a lot of color phased ones.  The drive was great and the scenery was amazing.  I would highly recommend if you have ever wanted to hunt big bears in Saskatchewan you need to call him up.  His web address is www.amyotoutfitters.com.  I promise you won’t be disappointed.  Here are a few pics from Marshall Price and Scott Connole’s bears.

Spring Bear and Turkey Hunting Is Here!!!!

April 13th, 2011 by Shaine Reece

Well it is time to dust the cobwebs off the old Hoyt bows and time to put the hurting on some big bruins and some big tom turkeys.  You have to love this time of the year.  I can honestly say I really love bear hunting.  It would rank in the top 4 hunts I look the most forward to each year.  We will be hunting in Montana, Idaho, and Saskatchewan.  We may also be heading back to Alberta as well.  Turkey hunts are planned for Montana, Wyoming, South Dakota and Nebraska.  So as you can see, the SDO team will be very busy this spring.

Crossbow Hunting for the Crew!

February 10th, 2011 by Shaine Reece

I had received my new Carbon Express Covert XB 3.5T crossbow a few weeks ago.  Let me tell you folks, it is an unbelievable crossbow.  I have really never been exposed to crossbows till the last few years.  I have shot several models and brands over the past few years and this one is by far the best I have ever shot.  Not only is it shooting at a speed of 350 fps, it is also extremely quiet.  No, it is not as quiet as my Hoyt, but for a crossbow it is extremely quiet.  The nice thing about this model from Carbon Express is that is comes with a Pro 5 Step tactical scope allowing you to have various yardage adjustments inside the scope.  It also will illuminate to either a red or green cross hair.  Another nice feature is that it is adjustable in the recoil pad.  You can get them in camo but I chose the black with carbon fiber detailing.  It is a sharp looking piece of hunting equipment.  I know all they guys on the crew are extremely excited to use it this year.  Make sure you check the regulations in your state.  In Montana, you can only use a crossbow during the general rifle seasons, and not the archery season.  Below is a picture of the one I shoot.  If you have never checked them out, I suggest you do.  You won’t be disappointed.

ATA Show Was Amazing!!!

January 11th, 2011 by Shaine Reece

As you can see the crew has been really busy over the last few months.  We apologize about not getting new blogs on the site in a timely manner. With that said, I just returned from the ATA show in Indianapolis.  The show was great!  I was able to talk to quite a few of our sponsors and I filmed about an hour of film on some of them and their new products for 2011.  I got to meet up with Hoyt, Realtree, Winners Choice, Hecs, Lakewood Products, Rinehart, Trophy Taker, Badlands, Carbon Express, Gorilla Treestands, Black Gold Sights, and Tight Spot Quivers.  As you can see it was a busy show.  I am proud to announce Gorilla as a new sponsor for Silent Draw Outdoors.  We have something really cool we will be working on together so when we get our first prototype I will let you all in on what it is.  I also talked to the Sportsman’s Channel about airing our show on their network.  If all works out, we may be on there 1st quarter of 2012.

Big Animals Hitting The Ground!

November 12th, 2010 by Shaine Reece

I know it has been a while since we put a blog on so we apologize about it.  I have been hunting all over the west.  As you can see from our antelope show that Dad and I had a great hunting trip in Wyoming.  Dad’s buck scored 81 5/8 and my buck scored 84 2/8.  My buck was 17 2/8 inches long on each side.  A trophy antelope and a buck of a lifetime.  Anthony finished out our youth duck hunt in Helena.  That show should be out soon.  What a great experience the young hunters had in the duck blind.  I just got back from Eastern Montana where I harvested the largest mule deer buck I have ever seen in this country.  I had been hunting this area since I was 13.  It was property owned by my grandfather so it was nice to be back on my old stomping grounds.  The show will be great.  Scottie got in front of the camera and shot a buck so his sister had meat for her freezer.  The buck I shot was donated to a family who’s husband is in Iraq for his 3 tour.  This is what we do at Silent Draw Outdoors, put amazing film  together and give back to families who need it.  Here is a picture of the buck I shot.

Season Is In Full Swing!

September 23rd, 2010 by Shaine Reece

Well the Silent Draw Outdoors team has been extremely busy the past month.  We have been hunting hard in Montana and Wyoming.  We have filmed some amazing hunts and have had huge successes in the field.  Our last hunt in Wyoming was no exception.  I had the honor in hunting with my father and my 3 year old little girl.  My dad shot a huge buck scoring 81 2/8.  This was special since I have not had the opportunity to hunt with him for almost 18 years.  The joy and excitement on his face when he walked up to his buck is one I will never forget.  I was lucky and harvested a monster myself.  He was a Boone and Crockett animal.   He scored out at 84 2/8 inches.  His horn lengh was 17 2/8 inches on each side.  A buck of a lifetime.  My little girl was with us on both harvests so that made it just that much more special.  The show will be amazing and I will keep you all posted on when it is out.  We are off to elk hunting camp tomorrow for some monster bulls with Broken Heart Outfitters.  Here is a picture of my dads buck.

Montana Bow Season Has Arrived!

September 8th, 2010 by Luke Fitzwater

The 2010 Bow Season has officially begun in Montana, and Labor Day Weekend found the SDO crew hunting elk in the Rockies with our friends at Broken Heart Outfitters. The hiking was intense with the terrain being steep and deep, in fact, the lactic acid is still working its way out of our legs. Even though the rut has not quite started here the guys at Broken Heart were still able to get us into some elk. Round one went to the elk on this trip, but we are looking forward to heading back to the mountains to work with Broken Heart again in two weeks. By then the rut should be in full swing and we will be in for a wild ride. Meanwhile, the next two weeks are full of activity as the SDO crew will be hunting antelope eastern Montana and Wyoming as well as participating in a youth event for Ducks Unlimited in Helena Montana. After that its back to the hills to go after elk with the guys at Broken Heart Outfitters. All this and the season is just getting started…Good Hunting!
